This course will build upon foundational considerations of nutrition to focus on key applications of nutrition in terms of health, performance, and recovery. Modules in this course will address topics related to energy metabolism, energy assessment, carbohydrates, fats, protein, fluid, supplementation, and weight loss.

Understand ways in which fats can be modified to optimize health, performance, and recovery.

Understand how exercise and fitness programs can be developed to meet prescription needs and exercise training goals.

Understand role of fluids in health and metabolism

Understand ways in which fluid status can be modified to optimize health, performance, and recovery.

Develop framework of evaluating safety and efficacy of dietary supplements

Develop framework of how to manipulate energy balance and Understand common dietary and exercise approaches to manipulate energy balance.
